The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s (the Centre) second CSR Report covers the period 2007-2010 and sets out the Centre’s corporate social responsibility efforts in relation to our operations, the community and the environment.
We hope you find the report informative and an enlightening read.
Allow me to welcome you to our second CSR report which covers the period 2007-2010.
We took a conscious decision to delay the preparation of our second report for many reasons including some changes in our employee structure, our desire to gain certification to ISO 14001 Environmental Management System in order to more clearly demonstrate our commitment to the environment, a decision to upgrade our membership of the AIPC – International Association of Congress Centres in order to support the growth of our sector and lastly the realisation that despite our efforts we still did not have a comprehensive corporate CSR strategy.
For this year’s report we have decided to retain the format recommended by the Association of Certified Chartered Accounts in order to allow our stakeholders to compare our performance between this and the previous period. Cognisant that larger organisations now follow the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) format for their CSR report our intent is to do the same for our next report and where appropriate refer to the guidelines being developed by GRI for the Event Management Sector to make it more relevant to our business operation.
For the next reporting period, we will look at organisational resilience as our viability as an organisation in the event of unexpected crises will impact upon our corporate responsibilities.
I welcome any comments and suggestions you may have on this report and look forward to reporting our progress again next year.
